Petrobras lines up 33 new rigs Print

Brazilian state energy giant Petrobras will receive 33 new oil rigs by 2012 as it seeks to boost output, Erardo Barbosa, head of the company's exploration services, said.
Petrobras will receive 11 rigs this year, Barbosa said today at a news conference in Rio de Janeiro.
The company currently operates 40 rigs, he said.
“We can’t be conservative in our goals,” exploration director Guilgerme Estrella said at the same conference. “We must be ambitious.”
Petrobra plans to invest $174.4 billion during the next five years as it seeks to double output and develop the pre-salt offshore oil discoveries, a Bloomberg report said.
