US junior Continental Resources said the Laurine Engel-1 flowed 463 barrels of oil per day at 650 psi flowing tubing pressure from 10 feet of perforations in the Lodgepole formation in Stark County, North Dakota.

The well was a conventional vertical drilled to 9754 feet of total depth.

The operator for the well is Dickinson, North Dakota-based Armstrong Operating. Continental has a 33% working interest in the well and partnered with California junior Jordan Oil & Gas on the venture.

Armstrong boss Mike Armstrong said:

"Ironically, it's the most significant discovery in my 35 years in the oil and gas business, and I can see it from my house."

The partners plan to drill an offset well later this year, according to a Continental press release.
