The number of oil and gas rigs drilling in the US is up by 11 this week to 928.

The number of rigs drilling in the US Gulf lost one this week to total 42, while the number of rigs drilling for oil gained 10 to total 229 and those drilling for gas gained one to total 688, a report by Houston-based oil services company Baker Hughes said today.

This week, rigs in Alaska and Arkansas remained unchanged at six and 44 respectively while California gained one to total 23.

Colorado gained two rigs this week, bringing the total to 45.

Louisiana lost one to total 134 while New Mexico gained two to total 40.

North Dakota and Oklahoma each gained three to total 40 and 82 respectively, while Texas stayed the same with 338 and Wyoming gained one to total 31.
